You can’t always trust your friends when it comes to real estate agents

You’ve decided to make a move. Whether that move is to buy a home, sell your house, or even buy investment properties- you can’t always trust your friends when it comes to real estate agents. Their recommendations may come from a good place – there are many reasons why you want to use us to help find your next agent.

And, while these friends always mean well – who you jive with them won’t always be the same as your friends and family. Check out why you should trust us in finding your real estate agent!

#1: It’s your friend’s parent

If your friend recommends their mother or father to you, they mean well. They want their parent to get business. We get that.

However, many people do not want their friend’s parents to know their financial status or share personal details. Real estate agents should be keeping all your info confidential. But, we find in situations like this, many personal details get slipped, leading to resentment later on.

You can tell your friend you’re interviewing many agents and trying to find the exact right fit or that you’re keeping personal and business separate.

#2: You don’t know anyone in the city

Maybe you’re new to a city and haven’t met any real estate agents yet. This is when Susan at your job recommends their friend to help you find your new home!

However, Susan doesn’t tell you that her friend just got licensed last week, has no experience, and now you’re the guinea pig.

How do we avoid this? Let us find you a great fit, and tell your co-worker you already have it covered.

#3: Your friend has never bought a home

We see this happen all the time. Your friend David has never purchased a home. Despite that, David tells everyone to use his real estate agent friend Fred. David doesn’t know if Fred is terrible at his job. David doesn’t know how Fred operates and if he’s a good match for your home-buying or selling experience.

Avoid these missteps by going with recommendations from someone in the industry.

#4: You have different ways of operating

We mean that just because your friend worked well with Sam doesn’t mean you will. Sam may only work in real estate part-time, and you can only contact them at 7 p.m. What happens when you need help and have questions during the day?

Sam may also be hyper-aggressive. This may have been the real estate experience your friend wanted, but it doesn’t give you the warm and fuzzies.

This is another reason to trust people who have been in the real estate industry to connect you with an agent.

Finding a great real estate agent doesn’t have to be stressful. Take our quick questionnaire, and we can help you find the perfect match for you. If you don’t like the agent you’ve been matched with – let us know. We will find you another and buy you a home warranty for the purchase or sale of your home, too.
